Dude, I feel #4 on your list big time. Though I've written a few very hardcore stories, most of my fiction is exactly as described in #4. And that used to really bother me. But I can't change it, nor do I want to. And your response to #4 is spot on!

I feel like #1 could apply to any genre. I had a creative writing professor that thought genre fiction was only good for escapism; obviously I disagreed. Horror isn't a need or an escapism, it's just something that speaks to us. I really enjoyed your post.
As far as #4 goes, you are exactly the right level of extreme. More or less extreme would just be forced and wouldn't be your authentic work. Keep doing what you are doing
