Well said, Lucas. The shadow is one of my favorite obsessions. If you’ve never read it, OWNING YOUR OWN SHADOW by Robert Johnson is a must-read. He was a Jungian scholar and psychologist who wrote numerous books on archetypes, relationships, and mythology. In fact, you’ve inspired me to re-read it!

That sounds cool. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks, Paul!

I second this. I have a decent collection jungian shadow work titles and alot of Johnson’s as well.

I just attended a witch’s summit online where we did all shadow work discussion for 4 days. We do alot of this work, actually. If you ever want to talk about this (or a reading on it for you?), DM me.

I just might do that. Thank you for asking. Although I am spiritual myself, a lot of my friends and fellow writers are extremely secular. Live and let live, of courses, but I do like to also connect with other more spiritually minded folks whenever I can. Appreciate ya!

Awesome. We’ll have an interesting conversation. I give really good fully channeled readings, too. I am a pagan, but not a typical one.

This was an incredible essay, Lucas, and particularly hits home for me. The insights from Cina were a welcome addition. She's definitely one of a kind in the horror genre and an all-around great lady. Thanks for the effort and thought you put into this. It gave me much to think about.

Horror gave me a safe space to explore my feelings of abandonment and my father. It helped me confront my own shadow in a safe space. I learned a lot about myself.

Excellent post, Lucas. Thank you.
