Another Killer Con is in the books. I’ve tried many times to write a sufficient recap, but I’m not sure words can do it justice. Just know that if we interacted at all the other weekend, I’m grateful for you. Every convention has something about it to make it special; Killer Con’s appeal lies in the fact that it feels like a weekend-long party with friends in the biz. While you will sell books in the dealer’s room and during the mass author signing, the con is really about building and maintaining friendships.
And that’s why we do this, right? Finding new books to read is cool. Getting to express yourself creatively is even better. The friendships, though… incredible.
I’ve got a couple things to announce.
First, I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be part of Uncomfortably Dark’s next “Dark Dozen” anthology. This time, the theme is Dark Disasters. I knew from the time I held the hardcover of Baker’s Dozen that I wanted to be a part of one of Candace’s anthologies, so this is huge for me. It drops November 25.
On August 26th (hey, that’s this weekend), I’ll be at Ghoulish Books for the official launch of my latest book Bladejob. The event is Spooky Smackdown: Wrestling-Themed Horror Stories and Free Movie Screening.
Here’s the official release:
Do you like wrestling? Do you like horror? Then come down to Ghoulish Books this Saturday for...SPOOKY SMACKDOWN!
SPOOKY SMACKDOWN will consist of several writers reading wrestling-themed horror stories to an audience, followed by a wrestling-themed horror movie screening in our bookstore. This event is FREE.
Scheduled to read: Lucas “Big Daddy Cool” Mangum, Shane “The Hammer” McKenzie, Susan “The Shark” Snyder, and Max “The Ghoul” Booth.
The movie we’re screening is a SURPRISE and we won’t reveal the title until showtime.
The event begins at 6pm.
This is a book launch party for Lucas Mangum’s BLADEJOB, which is—yes—a horror wrestling book. We will have copies in stock at the store for Lucas to sign, along with books by all of the authors performing.
The address is: 9330 Corporate Drive, Suite 702, Selma, TX 78154
Go to the Facebook event page for more information.
It’s going to be another short one this week. My AC is out—the last thing we need in Central Texas heat—so we’re living a nomadic lifestyle until we get it replaced this week. That means my writing time is limited, and I need to be choosy about how I spend that time.
Replacing that AC isn’t going to be cheap. If you want to help out, I’ve got signed copies of Snow Angels, The Final Gate, and Bladejob for sale. $15 each, signed and shipped, or you can grab all three for $40. You can email me L.Mangum.Fiction@gmail.com to place an order.
Until next time…
Killer Con, No AC, and Some Announcements
Aaaah congrats to you! It all sounds so exciting. Hope you can get your AC replaced soon.
